Jeff Mucha's Tektronix Projects

RGB Color LED Project

Currently the TDS7000 series Oscilloscopes only have Yellow-green LEDs on all of the buttons. With the prototype board I designed, I can demonstrate how aesthetically pleasing multi-color buttons can be.

Notice how the trace color on the screen matches the corresponding channel button..

The prototype board pulse width modulates a signal to each of the three terminals of a RGB LED. Having a different counter for each terminal, it is possible to mix the colors and generate a full spectrum of colors. The LEDs I used have wavelengths of 430nm, 525nm and 630nm.

Step Recovery Diode Based EMI Comb-Generator Project

This prototype board plugs into the power supply of a TDS 7000 Instrument. It generates harmonics every 10 mhZ upwards of 5 GhZ.
The beefy resistors are required to meet minimum power supply requirements when the acquisition system is not attached.
This project demonstrates the ability of the mechanical design of the oscilloscopes case to attenuate unwanted radiated emissions.
