Halloween #25
Well, another Halloween is upon us again. Since Halloween is on a Monday, I think I’ve done most of the celebrating I’m going to do. Let me fill you in starting last Thursday.
Thursday:
I heard word from my roommate that he is planning to visit Allison on Friday. Knowing Allison, and some other fun Eugenians (is that what they’re called?), I invite myself along.
Friday:
So many things to do before the trip, I schedule carefully. I bale from work early, determined to get a digital camera for the trip. My spending has been down, money has been accumulating, I’ve started taking my blog more seriously. It is time. With some consumer electronic expert help from Josh, I decide on the Cannon SD450. I go to Camera World, try it out, and I fall in love. This thing is sexy. I attempt to purchase it, but find it is sold out there and their five other locations in driving distance. Damn. I give in, and have them mail order one in and mail it to my house. I’m guessing by next Friday my blog will start filling with pictures. I’m excited.
After going to Camera World, I hoof it over to The Portland Steak and Chophouse to catch some happy hour with Jason and Markus. We delightfully chat about geeky subjects such as the 3 ways of implementing a 3D Graphic Engine, and make note of how our weight seems to be proportional to where each one of us is at with the opposite sex.
Finally, after a quick trip to mall, I return home and Eddie and I are off.
Upon arrival, which was a little late because apparantly I missed Eugenes *ONE* exit, we meet up with Allison and her friend Amarrah (is that spelled correctly?). Amarrah is very cool. After indecisivly walking around the city for a little bit, we get some drinks and have wars throwing peanut shells at each other.
Saturday:
Saturday was great. I visit Kaya, and enjoyed my first ranch experience. I was given a tour of the 9 Achers containing fruit trees, 2-3 horses, a barn/stable, grazing pastures, and a big tree house. This tree house is amazing; a great view of the land, a staircase leading up to it, two beds, a deck, and a basket/pully system for hoisting up beer.
Next up was figuring out a costume. I’m always really bad with costumes. I know some people who plan ahead and will spend hours on one. Not me… I usually wait till the last minute, then throw on some white face paint and some fake blood. However this night, Eddie designed some of the most amazing improvised costumes for both of us I have ever seen. Word’s can’t describe what we looked like. I will hold off the description and post pictures once they are obtained. Allison was embarrased to be seen with us - perfect. Let’s just say our matching costumes involves tin foil, pastel fluffly shorts, long underwear, tape, and determination.
The rest of the night involves me visiting Kimberly and Justin, going to two house parties and drinking party punch from a “Rumkin”, and enjoying good ‘ol Pabst. The second house party was especially nice; having the bon fire and smores setup. This was my first time sitting in front of a bonfire on halloween, dressed up with a group of people. It felt like the perfect Fall setting.
In the end, I never really seem to have a plan for Halloween. I just leave myself open to any opportunities that come up, and somehow it always works out.
