December 1st 1996:

They Might Be Giants (part II)

I'm sorry but there are no photos or pictures to go along with this page today.

This weekend Julie and I went up to Sherwood Oregon to visit my parents for the Thanksgiving extravaganza thing. While there I had a lovely time helping out, but I had a dream that I thought I would share with all of you:

In the dream Julie and I were attending a "They Might be Giants" concert, but instead of playing at a club or a regular venue, they were playing at a water park. The audience members (there weren't many of us) were made to get into one of the pools made for the dolphins. This pool was, however, one of thoe big round pools that a family might purchase from Sears or Best and was much larger then normal. It had a ledge around the inside that we all stood on, so that we were only submerged up to mid-chest level.

Before TMBG came out we were entertained by performing dolphins. They would hold big hoops that looked like they were made of a Cheerio(tm) type substance, and were thicker then normal. They would hold the big Cheerios in their mouths whilst other dolphins would attempt to jump through. I say this because some dolphins would fail and "bounce" off the Cheerio. It was quite weird.
Anyway, TMBG comes out, but it's only John Flansborough (the larger one.) He went to the side of the pool directly across from us and stood on a platform that allowed him to play (the keyboard unusually). The show started, but the other people there were visibly upset because he sounded like he was lip-syncing to a pre-recorded track. The fans bugged him, so he stopped playing, and the pool was drained.

Julie and I decided not to stand on the edge anymore so we circled around the pool counter clockwise and found some movie theater-type seats. Actually Julie found two good ones near the front and we sat down. When we looked up at John, he was riding a Mastadon in the middle of the now drained pool. It's dark brown fur and it's long tusks were quite real to me. (For some reason at this point, I thought that John looked particularly cool now with a blond curley wig that he didn't have on previously)Someone in the audience asked him about the tumors, and he said that they got all but one of them, and pointed at his head.

Then, other Mastadons and some elephants came onto the scene and crashing through the pool (the part Julie and I were at previously) I was bourne up by one of the elephants and we left Julie behind. We went down a long rectangular tunnel, very much like those in a stadium leading to the outside, or the locker rooms. The tunnel kept going until it opened up into a school/university building. Were dismounted and the elephants and mastadons vanished. We were forced to sit at tables and take standardized tests with Scan-Tron(tm) forms. I however didn't get a test question packet and was terribly stressed. After searching frantically, I gave up and read the newspaper.

That was my dream. I usually don't remember them that well, but I figured that I should write it down for when I'm put in the home.
