They Might Be Giants

This weekend I had the opportunity to go the They Might Be Giants concert. It had been two years since I'd been to La Luna. For those of you who don't know, La Luna is an all ages club on the other side of the river.

Julie and I arrived, and she had never been to a club like that, and she found the people there to be extremely rude. I took it in stride, because there is usually a whole lot of pushing and shoving involved at a place like that.

It was simultaneously a fun and unenjoyable experience because I was (and still am) recovering from the effects of playing hockey on the cold, cold ice. I think that if I continue to force fluids, take my PayLess High Potency Advanced Formula Multivitamins, and eat right, I should be O.K. I have a sore throat and my voice comes and goes without warning.

Anyway, while Julie and I were looking for the perfect place to stand, we ran into Chris Ghormley and Rebecca. Chit-chat was made, but the all-girl band from Vancouver B.C., CUB, started playing and we were forced to wait until between acts. We then talked for a while and agreed to hook up after the show.

TMBG was great. They played most of the favourites. "Istanbul (not Constantinople)," "Snailshell," "Birdhouse in Your Soul," and "James K. Polk" were played at the show. Needless to say, it was fun to see the two Johns. Linnell is the skinny one and Flansborough is the larger one. Again, for those of you who don't know, their voices are incredibly similar. Flansborough, however looks more like an average high school nerd who never grew up. It's really cool. Linnell looks more like a rock star (but not that much)

Julie and I got a chance to talk to Chris and Rebecca and friends after the show at a pub. I don't remember the name, but Julie and I shared a Chicken Pot Pie, and Chris ordered a Vegeterian Paistee. (Not a worn item) We waxed nostalgic for a couple hours, and eventually parted ways. It was nice.

I must now upload this thing and go to bed. Later.
