Gas Meters and God

I have been working on a series of photos of gas meters. To me, gas meters are like people. All of them are essentially the same, but I have never found one exactly like another. If a pipe curves one way coming into the meter, or curves another way coming out. Whether they're painted tan, or factory direct gray, they are all individual, but the same in function and type of spirit

For me the gas meter started out as an accident. A quick "snapshot" later turned the image into an icon. I began to see meaning in the icon, that realized that even the mundane could speak to the human condition. I decided to put my faith in gas meters. I hope that is isn't misplaced.

I am looking for truth. I realize that because I say that I am looking for truth, I must confess that truth is not a set of facts that I can subscribe to. Neither can I say that I can find truth through purely emotional methods. I use only what I know how to use, my intellect and my intuition. My brain and my heart. Somewhere in the middle, the truth will be found.

In the latest issue of Scientific American, there is an article that that describes a new movement in science away from our rigid framework of mathamatical facts, but more toward an open dialog with other points of view. Say no to pure fact, say no to pure emotion. Seek the truth.
